Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known for her highly laudable performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her including an Oscar. The talented actress began her acting career on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth class production. When she was in the fifth grade following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing in the left ear. She did not let it stop her from performing. While in college, she took classes in theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut due to an accidental meeting and Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find film roles. An supporting role was securing in Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in numerous television series, films as well as movies throughout the span of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
